I was born in London, but grew up in Trinidad and Tobago where I obtained a BA (Hons) in English from the University of the West Indies (UWI). I later completed the in-service post-graduate Diploma in Education at the School of Education, UWI Trinidad. I was a teacher of English/Literature at the secondary level for some twenty years in the Caribbean, in Trinidad and Tobago and in the Turks & Caicos Islands. I later worked as a part-time teacher in the city of Bristol, UK.
I have also had a career in journalism, working as an Associate Editor with Daily News Limited (Newsday) a national daily newspaper in Trinidad & Tobago. During this phase of my professional career I completed a Master’s in Education with the Sheffield University Caribbean programme in 2002. I later joined the then locally based teaching staff on the Master’s programme as a part time tutor for one year. In 2013 I successfully defended my PhD dissertation entitled: Dilemmas and Dynamics Relating to Selection for Secondary Schooling in Trinidad & Tobago, without the need for corrections.
My dissertation supervisor recommended me to his international ESL postgraduate students who required editorial support as they completed their final dissertations. This led to a demand for editorial services from Masters and doctoral students from Namibia, Chile, Tanzania, South Korea and Hong Kong. I have also provided these services to UK undergraduate students as they completed their final dissertations.
